Learning to blog

Today is the first day of the rest of my life - er blog.
Ok trite but true.
Gads this first post is not a great start for a Canadian writer eh? - lol
And so (ok never start a sentence with AND) I have decided to embrace blogging as a way to continue doing what I enjoy the most - writing.
I never planned on becoming a journalist - it just sort of happened.
In my day (Oh that does sound like I am getting old "er" lol) there were not many women working in the weekly newspaper business - and so because I wanted to be different - a bit of a character flaw I think - I chose to study journalism instead of just aiming for a general arts degree.
A couple of years of university and I had had enough lol - I left the classroom behind (instead of finishing the task at hand - another character flaw I think - yes we all have them) to start my first job as a fledgling reporter in a town in Northern Ontario - New Liskeard. . . back before the nearby mining town of Cobalt burned down . . . before the waterfront of the town was given a facelift) It is one of the best decisions I have ever made and it set me on a journey that I will never forget - which I will write about in the months to come.
Beginning a new journey as a blogger - in the autumn of my life - it seems appropriate that I post a photo of a road near my home, taken in the fall - when the colours of the season amaze and inspire.

I hope that this blog will spark some interest - and inspire too - but if not - at least it will be therapy for this writer (lol) - as I try out this new and exciting medium - a weblog - defined these days as a journal written on-line and accessible to users of the internet.
It is a new template - so to speak - for the creative side of my life.
So I challenge those of you out there who dare read this - to hang on for the ride.
p.s. for those of you who know me - living life to the fullest of what I do - what happens after that - well - it's life.
